Haaaallotjes. :)

Afgelopen donderdag, bevrijdingsdag, zat ik lekker te lunchen in het zonnetje in Den Haag met vriendjelief en Bram, Ik open mijn mail en zie verontrustende dingen.. Mijn profiel kan bekeken worden door host-families zodat ik er één kan kiezen? Maar dat had ik allemaal allang geregeld? Ook een e-mail van een ander gezin. 'Vervelend om te lezen dat het niet is gelukt met je andere gezin etc. etc.' immediate STRESS! what te **** ? Dus direct contact gezocht met het gezin waar ik heen zou gaan, voordat ik deze e-mail ging beantwoorden. De familie bevestigd inderdaad dat ze wegens privé omstandigheden geen au-pair in huis kunnen nemen. Dat is ff slikken, want er stonden toen nog maar 3 weken op de teller en alles is al geregeld.

Het mailtje wat ik heb ontvangen van een potentiele nieuwe familie ziet er daarintegen erg interessant uit en ben dan ook direct ingegaan op het aanbod om de volgende dag te skypen..Dit ging super goed! Zij geeft wel aan ook nog met andere au-pairs skype afspraken te hebben maar dat ze het me zo snel mogelijk laat weten. Op dit moment heb ik besloten af te wachten om andere families te benaderen omdat dit heel erg goed klikte, heel leuk was en ik graag het antwoord wilde afwachten voordat ik me weer ergens anders in stort.Gelukkig hoefde ik niet lang te wachten! De volgende ochtend ontvang ik mail dat ze me heel graag als hun au-pair willen hebben en dat het juist goed uitkomt dat ik binnen korte termijn kan beginnen!
Wat is er nu anders? Om te beginnen zit ik gelukkig nog steeds in de buurt van Brisbane, dus mijn ticket hoeft niet gewijzigd te worden. Ik zit iets meer landinwaarts in een plaatsje dat Bardon heet. Dit is een royale buitenwijk van Brizzie. ;) De kids zijn 7 jaar oud (meisje) en 10 jaar oud (jongen).
Dus eind goed, al goed! Morgen heb ik een voorbereidingsworkshop in Venray en dan over 2 weken gaat het allemaal beginnen! Ik heb er super veel zin in maaaaar hoe dichterbij het komt hoe 'echter' en hoe spannender het wordt!

Last Thursday I was having lunch in the sun with my boyfriend and another friend of ours, Bram, just enjoying a beautiful day off when I got some disturbing e-mails. My profile is now open for host-families? This was something that had been arranged for a long time already? I also had an e-mail from another family mentioning 'Sorry to hear that your previous arrangements have fallen through.' What the ****?Before answering this e-mail I decided to contact the host-family. They confirm that because of personal reasons (which I won't mention) they are not able to have an au pair in the house anymore.
This hit me like a hurricane, everything was already sorted out! Also, my flight was due 3 weeks later!
The e-mail I received from the other family looked pretty interesting tho, so I decided to go with their offer to skype the next day. This went really well, was a lot of fun and gave me some confidence wether this would all work out. They mentioned that they had other skype meetings planned but that they would let me know asap. This did not took long, for they contacted me the next day saying that they would love for me to be their au pair and that it is definitely not a problem that I am able to start on short term.
So, whats different now? I am still in a suburb from Brisbane, but not at the coast anymore. The town I will be living in is called Bardon. The kids are 7 years old (girl) and 10 years old (boy).
All good in the end. Tomorrow I will have a workshop in Venray to get prepared and after that it is just 2 more weeks away! EEEK! I am super excited but also starting to feel the tension more and more.
